Character history:
NOTE – Hana is only 6 years old in the canon but for the sake of RPing I’m picking him up at an older age, so history past 6 will be fanon.
Hana is the son of Asakura Yoh and Asakura (formally Kyoyama) Anna, the Shaman King and his First Lady, his name comes from merging both his mothers name and his fathers. Hana grew up at the rebuilt ‘En’ Inn, now the Funbari Onsen Inn.
Because of their duties to the Shaman World, Hana’s parents were forced to leave him in the care of their friend Tamao while they travelled the world. This happened at a very young age (I assume 2ish?) causing Hana to believe that Tamao was is his real mother. Tamao went to great lengths to be like his real mother, even dressing up in Anna’s trademark black dress and adopting her attitude, which is a complete contrast to her real attitude. Tamao had difficulty lying to Hana, but thought is was for the best, deciding that everyone is together again she will tell him the truth.
To make things easier, Tamao went under Anna’s name while she raised Hana, and told him the name of his father so he would understand what his namesake was.
By the age of 6, Hana had been pretty well educated in the way of Shamans and was able to use Oversoul, with his medium being the Futsu-no-Mitama no Tsurugi and his spirit ally being the spirit Matamune, an old friend of the family. He was also taught some knowledge of the Five Warriors and the Shaman King, although he is kept in the dark about father is the Shaman King, and was simply told his father is one of the Warriors.
Hana is good friends with Ryu, one of his fathers’ most loyal friends, though he doesn’t understand how he can be so hard working. He helps Ryu with his work and at the age of 6, is sent with him on a journey by his ‘mother’. This journey is to find the Five Legendary Warriors and bring them back to Funbari Onsen. Hana was very determined to achieve this goal, mostly because he feared his ‘mother’s’ wrath if he didn’t.
Hana travelled halfway across the world to gather up ‘The Ren’ a group that consisted of Tao Ren, Horokeu Usui and Chocolove McDonell, all of which were warriors. Hana was forced to fight against Ren to prove he was the son of Yoh. Horokeu came without much of a fuss and Chocolove had to be broken out of jail. The journey didn’t take him too long and Hana returned home, fearful that he had only gathered 3 of the 5 warriors.
He was shocked to find when he returned home that his father and the other warrior, along with other allies of his father, were already waiting at the inn. He was even more shocked to see that his real mother had also returned and that his father was actually the Shaman King. Lost in a night full of reunions, Hana barely had time to come to grips with what had happened.
The following day, the group had a large meeting from which Hana was excluded. He was told they were discussing something important and once they were done, he would be filled in. However, the meeting never drew to a close. During one of the critical points, the Tokyo police showed up and arrested Chocolove to take him back to jail in America. Without one of the warriors, the group dispersed and resolved to meet again another year, but to be watchful in the mean time.
For the next two years, Hana spent time adjusting to a new life with his mother and father. It was odd for him to see his ‘mother’ revert back to her shy self and scuttle about the house following orders she used to issue to him. It was even odder to meet his father, who Tamao had often spoken highly of, and find out he was this carefree, laid back guy.
Anna, his mother, was somewhat what he expected, and yet not. He grew to fear and respect her more than he had done when Tamao was impersonating her and he felt content that he finally had both his parents home.
His father often had to go out to do ‘Shaman King Duties’ and his mother gave him odd training schedules, which he thought he’d be used to from Tamao’s but apparently, his mother thought those were ‘too soft’. With these, Hana became much more skilled as a Shaman and he was educated all about the world of Shamans in much greater depth and told about the Shaman Fight – or at least, it’s original purpose.
Now at 8 and half years of age Hana was well fitted for the title of Shaman Prince. One day, they received news that HoroHoro (Horokeu) was having trouble with the large amounts of Oni that were appearing near his homeland. Anna sent Hana to investigate, then Ryu and the spirit of Faust later to ensure Hana’s well being. Hana was forced to participate in a grueling battle against someone of incredible power. They finally managed to win but at the cost of Horo’s arm. But when Ryu showed up he performed some odd technique thanks to Faust and somehow managed to heal Horo but when Hana questioned him Ryu wouldn’t yield. The person they defeated seemed to be a follower of a man called Hao, who was possessed of the soul of Hao. The soul of Hao escapes and Hana simply passes it off as a possession but Horo insists he be taken to the Shaman King immediately.
They arrived back at the inn to find Yoh gone. They relay the events to Anna and she tells them that Yoh went to help Lyserg (the 5th warrior) fight a similar problem. Yoh shows up that night carring a terribly beaten Lyserg, Lyserg is placed under Fausts care and Anna and Yoh call Hana to their room. His parents tell him all about Asakura Hao and the struggles they had to go through during the Shaman Fight.
They tell him about how when Hao was finally defeated, he scattered his soul into many pieces all over the world which was why Yoh and Anna had to go travelling for so long, searching for them, but their search came up dry. Now, the pieces have begun possessing people with one incredibly powerful piece working as the main body. They don’t much more about it as this was all Yoh was able to find out whilst fighting so save Lyserg. Yoh managed to destroy the piece but he is worried about the others. They tell Hana the only way they know when a piece is active is when hordes of Oni appear at the place of the possessed.
At this point, Lyserg wakes up and tells Yoh that they must go out and find the piece that attacked Horo. Anna insisted that Hana be the one to go, as she has to perform rites to learn more about what’s going on and it’d be easier if those who had fought a piece of Hao’s soul and destroyed it where there. Never one to argue with Anna, Yoh agrees.
Hana sets off alone and confronts the soul piece. He is almost killed but manages to defeat and destroy his opponent. Out of Furyoku and exhausted both physically and mentally, Hana collapsed and fell into a near death state. He recovers to find himself back at the inn. Matamune explains that Jun brought him back and Hana asks Jun about this and whether it has anything to do with the technique Faust used on Horo. Jun simply tells him he will have to ask his mother.
He is, however, unable to follow that advice when he finds Anna has called a meeting of all their allies. She explains that by destroying each of the soul pieces is the true way of destroying Hao’s rebirth cycle. The gang immediacy prepares a plan and while Hana is eager to help, Anna refuses to let him go. She insists that he still has much to learn and she will let him go once she feels she has taught him enough.
Yoh bids farewell to his wife and son and sets of on a journey to find more of the soul pieces. Some of his friends go with him and others set out on different paths to different parts of the world. Hana remains to train with his mother.
After half a year, once Hana reached the age of 9, he had mastered the Chou Senji Ryakketsu and many other complex techniques from his mother. Anna decided that she’d taught him enough and they both set off on different ways to search for more soul pieces.
Hana travels to China and, once again, assists in a fight against hordes of Oni’s and the one who summoned them. One of the pieces had tried to attack Ren’s home while he was gone but Ren returned to fight the piece. They managed to destroy the soul, but at the cost of Ren’s life. Hana is thrown into guilt about not being able save Ren and curses himself for not being able to master the ability to revive from the Chou Senji Ryakketsu. Jun tells him not to worry about it and gives Hana a shock when she demonstrates her mastery over the power and brings her younger brother back to life. Hana says his farewells and sets of on his own once again.
For months now Hana has been fighting the pieces of Hao’s soul. So far they have managed to work out that the ‘main body’ controls a large demon-like spirit and that the strength of the soul pieces varies depending on many different factors. Along the way he’s met many different people and often bumped into other shamans, including his parents and their friends. He’s become best friends with a boy called Jed from Poland who now serves as a guide to tell him where to find the latest soul piece.
Hana has made a lot of progress but he still has a long way to go. The oddest part for Hana is that even though he’s fighting against Hao, he doesn’t quiet understand why (since he’s simply following his mother instructions and going on what his parents have told him) and while he continues to fight he’s also trying to investigate into what Hao’s doing.
Uknown to Hana, his father is actually a hybrid of Yoh and Hao. Yoh currently contains one of the major soul pieces of Hao inside him from fighting Hao in the Shaman Fight.
Character personality: Hana has traits of both his parents; because of this he’s prone to massive moods swings. Like his father, Hana can happily sit, relax and watch the clouds go by, he also becomes fearful in a very similar way to Yoh, becoming very nervous and jumpy when he’s in fear of something, however, this doesn’t mean he scares easily. When he becomes serious, he also mirrors Yoh’s actions, becoming very quiet and withholding. Like his mother, he’s not afraid to get what he wants and is quick to use force as a method. He has very little patience for things that annoy him and over the years, he’s gotten better at controlling his short temper but it can often get the better of him and once he becomes distempered, he lashes out. When he realizes he’s in the wrong about something (or something similar) Hana is very apologetic and withdrawn. He’s fond of making sarcastic comments and, very like his mother, often believes his way is the right way. His laugh and grin are strikingly similar to Yoh’s and he seems to have inherited his glare from his mother. Although he listens to his father, Hana is fiercely independent and believes the only one who truly can boss him around is his mother. His favourite food is Curry & Bun which is oddly the same as Asakura Hao and he also seems to suffer from pyromania, having shown slight pryomaniac tendencies, which he may have picked up from his Uncle Hao.
Digimon personality: Labramon is someone who takes action first then thinks about the consequences later. He often means well and but he just can’t seem to control his temper at times, this is usually because he’s very protective and gets easily wound up. This often leads to him yelling at someone then feeling very guilty about it afterwards. Despite all this, he is pretty friendly with people and will go through a great deal to please them. He’s a pretty nice guy, just a bit of a hot head.
Character abilities: Hana is a very strong Shaman, meaning he can see, communicate and interact with spirits. Hana has one main spirit that acts as his partner and allows him to fight in Shaman Fights. His abilities include being able to create weapons from spiritual energy, predict enemies’ movements and move at very fast speeds. From his weapon he can also unleash blasts of spiritual energy. He is by no account however, unbeatable and although he holds some small healing ability, it uses up large amounts of energy and he’s not very good at it (eg, reduces bleeding but won’t heal up the wound completely) so he doesn’t use it often. At this level, Hana is still weaker than Hao, Yoh, Anna and probably some other characters in the canon.
Oni Slayer: Hana’s most used attack. Although there are different forms/ways in which Hana can use this attack, they’re all basically the same, involving Hana swinging his weapon to create a wave of power to go flying towards the enemy which slices them.
Copy Cat: Allows Hana to copy the attacks of his opponents, however, the attack costs more Furyoku for Hana than it does for the Original User, so it’s often used to copy lower level attacks.
Forest Fire: One of Hana’s highest level attacks. A technique which causes a vast fire to engulf the area around himself and his opponent. It consumes vast amounts of Furyoku and is incredibly difficult to control as the flames react more to his emotions than his commands. It’s only used in incredibly desperate situations. As long as the fire burns it will consume Hana’s Furyoku.
Blossoming Flame: Hana’s most rarely used and most powerful attack. Hana’s usual Oversoul becomes large enough to engulf his arm up to his shoulder and the blade becomes long and glows like hot metal. This Oversoul is extremely effective in close combat and also allows Hana to manipulate fire to some extent (eg, shooting out balls of flames). This Oversoul is very dangerous for Hana, once it’s broken Hana is out of Furyoku and often passes out.
Hana With Other Mankin Characters:
Any mankin characters have probably run into Hana during his journey, and possibly more than once. Most likely, if they're allies they will have fought against some Oni with Hana and possibly a piece of Hao's soul too. Any enemies have probably fought against Hana. If you would like information about how these fights (for both) went or you would like more specific information about your characters interaction with Hana, feel free to catch me on AIM and we'll chat about it. Also, feel free to come up with your own story about what your character is doing in Hana's time period, just please tell me about it too. If you want to write out a little piece about it that would be great too- I'll give it a quick read-over, adjust it if need be (after checking with you) and post it up here.
Hoshi: It was five to six years after the Asakura heir was born and Hoshi was there to attend the birth. She stayed for a year and a half to help out her surrogate sister, Anna, as well as one of her best friends with their kid by giving him a sacred Hikari family blessing at his birth and spending as much time as she could with her nephew, which she was proud to have. Ever since then, she returned to her village and was running things with an iron fist.
During the two years in which Hana and his parents were reunited and went about their normal lives at the inn, Hoshi would regulary visit but then things began to change. She had authority on what happened in and out of the gates that stood for nearly 2,000 years. ...yet, they didn't hold for long as the gates were attacked by numerous Oni, all which Hoshi, the Lord of the Hikari Village was sent to slay time and time again. It got to be so bad that she always kept her dagger, the trusted Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi on her, even when she slept.
Once Hana was 9, and after he went help Ren, one of the first places he went to was Kyushu to help his aunt out on vanquishing the Oni. During the battle itself, it looked like they were winning until one of the pieces tried to attack the main Hikari temple. Hoshi protected the Hikari temple at the cost of her own life. Her family tried to resusciate their leader and they failed. Hana knew what he had to do but he still wasn't very skilled in this area so it took almost all the rest of his strength (and alot of help from Matamune) to use the Chou Senji Ryakketsu to revive Hoshi from the dead. She thanked her nephew and treated him to soda as well as chocolate, his two favorite things. Hana stayed for a few days then left to continue on his journey. During his journey, Hana has come back to Hoshi's village to visit a few times.
